A Journey to Kasi: Chaitanya Rao, Katalyn Gowda, Priya Palvai unite for an intriguing tale on spirituality

30 weds 21 actor Chaitanya Rao, Alexander Salnikov, Katalyn Gowda and Priya Palvai are joining hands for an intriguing tale of self-discovery and romance titled A Journey to Kasi. Written and directed by Muni Krishna, the film is jointly produced by Doradla Balaji and Sridhar Varanasi. After wrapping the shoot, post-production formalities, the makers have decided to release the drama in theatres on December 17. The film's trailer was showcased to the media in the presence of the cast and crew today.

The story is told through multiple characters with different belief systems. Chaitanya Rao plays the character of a man who loses his mother early in life, and doesn’t like the hullabaloo around spirituality and devotion. Another woman, a sex worker, has a practical outlook towards life and relationships. Meanwhile, a foreigner asks her if she would accompany him on a trip to Kasi. How do their destinies collide? Will their experiences in Kasi change their outlook on life?

Chaitanya Rao said A Journey to Kasi was one of the earliest films he’d worked on. “It’s a lovely story and I’ll be thankful to Muni Krishna garu and the producers for giving me an opportunity. It’s important that content-driven films are made and appreciated by audiences and I’m confident about this film’s prospects too. It’s a very realistic tale that won top honours at Panorama Film Festival and Kollywood Film Festival,” he mentioned.

The actor praised his co-stars Katalyn and Priya and said that he was particularly surprised by the courage of the former to take up a challenging role like this in her very first film. “Every actor needs films like these to push their limits as a performer. I’m happy to be a part of this team. I hope audiences watch this film in theatres on December 17,” he added. Katalyn shared her excitement about the release of her debut film and thanked her co-star, director and producer for their support.

Director Muni Krishna believes that the journey to Kasi is a significant aspect in the life of every Indian and called Kasi the soul of the country. “Over 2 crore people bathe in the Ganges during the Kumbh Mela. Many feel that they would attain salvation if they died in Kasi. This is a road film where a journey to Kasi changes the protagonists’ outlook towards spirituality and life,” he shared. The producers at Varanasi Creations expressed their pride in producing a film like A Journey to Kasi.

With cinematography by Gokul Bharathi and Sri Sai, A Journey to Kasi has music by Phani Kalyan (Neeve fame). Other technicians in the film include the art director Nagendra Guvalla, choreographer Ajay Siva Shankar, stunt director Shankar, and editor Tirupathi Reddy, to name a few. Palla Mohan has written the dialogues.
