A mini-series revolving around Parveen Babi is in the talks and will soon find its way into the digital space. Sneha Rajani, who has earlier backed films like Piku, will bankroll this series. She has acquired the rights to writer Karishma Upadhyay’s researched biography on the yesteryear matinee idol. The book was released recently and was lauded by many for presenting a holistic picture of the actress’s life from her childhood. Her journey and stardom and her life, in a nutshell, is explained in the book and is now going to be presented in the form of a limited series.
Sneha will produce the show under her own production banner that she created after quitting her studio job which ran successfully for two decades. A source close to the development told Etimes that Parveen Babi’s story has been told in different ways by different filmmakers like Mahesh Bhatt. But it is high time that people saw the woman behind the screen, which comprises her struggles, stardom and her battle with loneliness. The source also added that nobody really knows the life she led before she became the darling star of the country. She had to fight her own battles.
The author of the book Karishma will lead the team and they are likely to also consider adapting the book into a movie as the team reportedly believes that a longer duration might do more justice to her and her life.
