We had earlier reported that actor Allu Arjun, who was recently seen in Pushpa 2, will be collaborating with director Atlee. The makers on Saturday announced that Hindi actor Deepika Padukone has joined the cast of the film. The project is tentatively called AA22 and A6, and will be backed by the Sun Pictures banner, marking their first project working with a Telugu-based actor.

Allu Arjun, who was seen in films like Pushpa and Ala Vaikunthapurramloo, will be collaborating with Mersal filmmaker Atlee for a pan-Indian project. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film is one of the most anticipated projects, given Allu Arjun comes fresh off the success of Pushpa, while Atlee has already directed Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan. Atlee, who has worked with stars in films like Theri, Mersal, and Raja Rani, is returning to direction after two years, with Jawan released in 2023.
On Saturday, the makers dropped a huge announcement. Actor Deepika Padukone will be starring as the female lead in AA22. It is to be noted that the Tamasha actor played a brief cameo role in Jawan and created a powerful presence in the film. However, this will be the first time the Cocktail actor will be collaborating with Allu Arjun.

A new video shows Atlee narrating the script to Deepika Padukone with full vigour and energy, with the latter being in awe of the story. Later, we see the duo at a VFX lab, where the body scans are being taken and we see a glimpse of what could be Deepika's character. With a mix of martial arts, and Atlee by her side, Deepika is shown to be riding a horse with a green screen. The film is expected to be a creature feature, with heavy VFX efforts.
While a release date for the film is yet to be announced, AA22 is expected to be made on a big budget and is speculated to have multiple female leads, including Mrunal Thakur and Janhvi Kapoor.
