The third installment of the popular Aadu franchise is all set to hit theatres on March 19, 2026. The upcoming Malayalam film, directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas, is Aadu 3 Part 1 with Part 2 scheduled to happen depending on viewers’ response. However, Midhun has now confirmed that he will end the franchise with Aadu 3 Part 2, the epic conclusion, even while leaving room for possible spinoffs by others.
The Aadu franchise, starring actor Jayasurya, began with the first movie in 2015. In a recent interview with Club FM, director Midhun Manuel Thomas spoke about expanding to Part 2 and how that would end the franchise.
“Aadu 3 will not end with just one part. That was conveyed during the writing stage itself. My world building will take time. When we are narrating the story through two timelines, we need to give time for world building. I had conveyed that till a certain point will be conveyed through part 1, which is already two hours and 47 minutes,” the Aadu writer-filmmaker explained.
“The rest of the portions will be wrapped up and the Aadu epic conclusion will be made if the viewers greenlight it. I am ending the franchise with Aadu 3 Part 2. All the characters will be there. Let someone else revamp it. That can also be done, right? Spinoffs can be made by others,” he said, adding that it is for the production house to give the nod for such an initiative.
Meanwhile, Aadu 3 dropped its first single, Sultaan, on March 14. The song is composed by Shaan Rahman, who has also contributed ot the Hindi lyrics along with Manu Manjith. Anila Rajeev has sung the song, which features Vinayakan and popular south actress Vedhika.
Earlier, there were rumours that Nikhila Vimal will be seen in a special dance number but the director had dismissed these. Apart from Jayasurya and Vinayakan, the comedy film's ensemble cast includes Vijay Babu (also producer), Sunny Wayne, Saiju Kurup, Dharmajan, Harikrishnan, and Bhagath Manuel.
