Aadujeevitham OTT release date: When, where to watch Prithviraj Sukumaran’s highest grossing survival drama

Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran’s highest grossing film Aadujeevitham aka The Goat Life, which is helmed by Blessy, is all set to begin streaming after its hugely successful theatrical run. The film, which hit theatres at the end of March, had an extended run at Kerala box office with over 60 days and is now all set to begin streaming on Disney+ Hotstar in multiple languages.

While the platform is yet to officially reveal its streaming date, reports suggest that the movie will drop on Disney+ Hotstar on May 26 - in Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Kannada. If it’s true, this is the second Malayalam movie that the platform has chosen to drop on a Sunday, after Manjummel Boys.

What to expect from Aadujeevitham’s OTT version?

Aadujeevitham, which was widely acclaimed, took over a decade to produce and the filming itself lasted for four years - due to the forced breaks due to the pandemic. The film is based on Benyamin’s novel of the same name and revolves around a Malayali man who travels to Saudi Arabia and is forced to work as a slave at a masara. The hardships he has to endure and the challenges he has to face while he decides to flee, form the plot of the movie, which also has Amala Paul, Gokul KR and Jimmy Jean-Louis as part of the cast.

The makers had earlier hinted that the OTT version of the movie will be longer. Blessy had earlier revealed that the original runtime of the film was 3 hours and 30 minutes and that the team had to trim this down by at least 30 minutes for the theatrical version. This also led to several scenes, which the audiences wanted to see from the book not quite making it to the screen. However, the OTT version might include those.

Aadujeevitham’s stellar box office run

Meanwhile, Aadujeevitham is expected to conclude its box office run with a figure close to Rs 165 crore in a total of 60 days. What makes it even more special is that the film went toe-to-toe with April’s bigger releases such as Aavesham and Varshangalkku Shesham, and benefitted from more screens in Kerala even during the festive season.
