While the makers of Aafat-e-Ishq have stated that Neha Sharma's upcoming film is a quirky comedy, the trailer of it is neither quirky nor funny. The concept of the movie - people dying after falling in love - is in the poor taste itself.
Neha plays the role of Lallo, who looks for true love. Everyone who becomes a prospect, ends up dying, making her a lead suspect in the case. For the uninitiated, Lallo itself is inspired by the name Laal Pari from ancient tales of the cursed woman.
The trailer fails to deliver fun, drama, quirk, pain, sadness or thrill. It only causes a lot of confusion and appears forced, mainly because the editors have fast-forwarded the story to Lallo meeting her prospects and them later dying. There is nothing funny about their deaths, even for dark comedy lovers.

Apart from Neha, the film also features Namit Das, Deepak Dobriyal, Amit Sial and Ila Arun in pivotal roles. Except for Ila, all of them happen to be potential suitors for Lallo. Darshan Jariwala plays the role of the lead police inspector who is investigating the murders.
Aafat-e-Ishq is the official remake of Liza, the Fox-Fairy. The Hungarian film had won numerous awards at film festivals. Confirming the same, director Indrajit Nattoji shared, "It is a reboot with some new twists, eclectic original music and quirky small-town Indian characters."
Meanwhile, Neha shared that she had to work on getting the local dialect and Hindi diction right. Being from a small town, Lallo is also not a glamourous person. Thus, Neha too had to de-glam for the role.
Aafat-e-Ishq is produced by Zee Studios. Skipping the theatrical release, the movie is slated for direct-to-OTT release on Zee5. It will start streaming on October 29.
