While Loveyapa faced immense backlash (as pointed out by Aamir Khan too), things were a lot different when Junaid Khan's debut film Maharaj was releasing

An interview of Aamir Khan has been going viral, and one of the statements that truly stand out is the actor bringing the nepotism debate when it comes to son Junaid Khan. Aamir believes that it is the tag that caused heavy trolling of Junaid's big screen Bollywood debut film, Loveyapa. Not too long ago, Junaid himself had spoken about nepotism, but had a very different point of view. This was back when he was making his acting debut with Maharaj. Here's what the actor had said...
Junaid Khan was asked about the nepotism debate and he had told Humans of Bombay that nobody had written anything negative about him ahead of Maharaj (Netflix film) release. He had spoken about going through the audition process and getting rejected too. Most of all, though, Junaid could not find any backlash which he accounted could be because he's not that active on social media.

Cut to months after Maharaj and Loveyapa's release, Aamir Khan, while promoting his own Bollywood comeback film Sitaare Zameen Par, believes that Loveyapa did not deserve the backlash it caused. He blamed the nepotism debate for the film's failure.
Praising Junaid's performance in the movie, and Loveyapa itself, Aamir said during a podcast, "I think the film received a lot of negative backlash. It was heavily trolled and got dragged into the nepotism debate, labelled as a ’nepo kid’ film)." The actor further admitted that he discouraged Junaid from formally learning acting.
Aamir Khan is set for his big Bollywood comeback with Sitaare Zameen Par. The RS Prasanna directorial is the Hindi version of Champions, which itself was adapted from the Spanish film Campeones. Sitaare Zameen Par would also mark Genelia D'Souza Deshmukh's grand comeback into acting, and features Darsheel Safary in a special role. The movie is scheduled for theatrical release on June 20.
Soon after confirming Sitaare Zameen Par's release, Aamir Khan also announced his next grand project. He wishes to adapt the mythological story of Mahabharata for the big screen. While conversing with the podcaster, Aamir further hinted at retiring from acting after he is done working on Mahabharata. However, one also has to note that Mahabharata will be released in many installments. This means that the actor would be around for at least a decade more to complete work on his project. Nonetheless, Aamir did express that he would not wish to work on anything else after taking up the challenge of working on Mahabharata.
