When asked about his statement on delayed OTT release for Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan accepts his fault, folds his hands and says, "Main aapse haath jod kar maafi maangta hoon ki maine jhooth bola, kyunki main aur kuch bol nahi paa raha tha. Mujhe theatre ka business protect karna tha," the actor said, defending how he started his career with cinema and is very loyal to theatres. He said that his aim was to protect theatres at all cost, and thus, he had to lie about not releasing his movie on YouTube. "Woh mujhe kehna pada aur main uske liye maafi chahta hoon. Unfortunately mujhe woh jhooth kehna pada warna mera jo yeh sapna tha woh wahi pe khatam ho jaata."

Being against the subscription model, Aamir explains how it is different from pay-per-view content. The actor points out how, with the subscription model, a viewer does not come to watch his movies specifically but to watch the movies that are a part of the subscription model. He explains how pay-per-view model is like theatres, where you pay a certain amount to watch a movie.

Aamir Khan further blamed how India lacked screens when compared to other countries. He pointed out how China has 90,000 screens while India simply has 9,000 screens at max. He calls it geographical disadvantage. "Agar mujhe koi film dekhni hai, maine suna ki film acchi hai lekin mere ilaake mein door door tak theatre nahi hai toh main kaise jaakar dekhu? Kya main karu ki main woh film dekh saku jiski maine itni taareef suni hai? Main dekh nahi paa raha hoon," the actor said, further pointing out how there are other factors that could come into play when it comes to watching movies in theatres. He points out how some people are unwell when the movie releases in theatres, while others are elderly. He feels the density of theatres is the biggest reason, and that he wants to take cinema to every household. The actor justifies that with pay-per-view, a person can decide when and where do they wish to watch the movie.
