The initial release plan for Sitaare Zameen Par

There was a strong buzz that Aamir Khan was planning to go the unusual way for his Bollywood comeback film, Sitaare Zameen Par. The actor might have skipped both theatrical and OTT release for pay-per-view model on YouTube. However, the actor has now confirmed that he shut down that idea and his movie is indeed releasing in theatres on June 20.

As an additional step, Woody Harrelson’s Champions, which served as inspiration for Sitaare Zameen Par, is out of OTT (JioHotstar). This move comes as Aamir Khan gears up for his grand Bollywood comeback opposite Genelia D'Souza Deshmukh. It is to be noted that Champions itself is the English version of the original Spanish film, Campeones.

Sitaare Zameen Par tells the tale of a basketball coach who has to train specially-abled children and get them to win the tournament. The movie promises to bring back the genre and elements that Aamir is most recognized for - quirky content where he roasts himself through others. The RS Prasanna directorial also brings back Darsheel Safary from the original movie, Taare Zameen Par.
