Laal Singh Chaddha may be Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan's first release in four years, but that has not kept the people from spewing hatred towards him for one reason or another. And now, bravely, Aamir Khan addressed one controversy after another at a recently concluded event in New Delhi, where he was the Chief Guest.

When a member of the media asked him about his supposed salute controversy, Aamir seemed surprised and didn't "remember" the incident in question "at all".

"Oh (smiles nervously)... The thing is I am not on social media and so, I don't know what has gone viral at all. But I can understand what you are trying to say. But I think I must have saluted properly, mujhe toh yaad hi nahin (I don't remember at all). Was there a salute in the episode?," Aamir asked, and the journalist was quick to remind him that Major DP Singh and Colonel Mitali Madhumita were also in attendance.

He was then told that when one of the most patriotic Indian songs Vande Mataram was playing in the background, he was not seen saluting with the rest of the lot. And this has irked some of the social media users.

"Maine bhi kiya hoga?... Oh, achha. Kiss cheez pe salute tha? Mujhe yaad nahin arahaan, sorry (I must have done it, too? Oh, yes... what was the salute all about? I cannot recall, sorry)," Aamir said, before adding that it must have been the "camera angles".

"Vande Mataram pe maine bhi salute kiya tha (I had saluted on Vande Mataram, too). Sometimes it is the camera angles as they are placed at different places. Maybe when I was saluting, there was not a camera capturing it (smiles!). Salute toh maine kiya tha (I did salute)," concluded the superstar.

Laal Singh Chaddha, which releases in theatres on August 11, 2022, is the official Hindi adaptation of Tom Hanks' Oscar-winning movie Forrest Gump. Recently, the original film's Instagram handle shared a collage of both the leading actors from their respective movies with "Run, Laal, Run" written in the caption.
