Aamir Khan has provided fresh information regarding his nephew Imran Khan's decision to leave the film industry almost ten years ago. The superstar recently discussed Imran's fight to conform to mainstream Bollywood standards and his ambition to pursue acting independently.
After making his acting debut in 2008's Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, Imran took a hiatus from the industry after featuring in 2015's Katti Batti. It wasn't a shortage of chances but rather a mismatch between the responsibilities presented to Imran, says Aamir, who claims that Imran chose to step away.
In an interview with Indian Express, Aamir remarked that Imran possesses an innate talent for creativity. The industry has a mainstream construct that Imran struggles to fit into, and the superstar stated that this environment is not his comfort zone. He continued by saying that Imran feels more comfortable in non-commercial film formats. Aamir added that Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na and Delhi Belly (2011) are great examples of films in which he might excel, as he's completely at home there. However, the 60-year-old stated that his nephew cannot fit into a typical Hindi film.
Aamir went on to talk about how, despite his distaste for the character, Imran was put in typical main roles because the industry saw him as a handsome actor. Herogiri makes him uneasy and he aspires to personify reality. Everyone was offering Imran roles in mainstream films due to his good looks. Aamir added that an actor, not a star, is Imran's dream.
Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar both had Imran playing a younger version of Aamir's character, but he had a few smaller roles before making his official debut. Movies such as Kidnap, Luck, I Hate Luv Storys, Break Ke Baad, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, Once Upon ay Time in Mumbai Dobaara!, and Gori Tere Pyaar Mein are among his list of credits.
There has been talk about Imran's possible acting comeback, although he has avoided the limelight for the most part in recent years. Abbas Tyrewala was developing a spy series with JioHotstar, and he was in talks to be a part of it. Nonetheless, eventually, the project was cancelled.
We hear that Imran is apparently still considering a return and is reading screenplays to find the perfect one. It's also being reported that the actor has begun shooting for an OTT film opposite Bhumi Pednekar.
