Bollywood star Aamir Khan is busy with the promotions of his production venture, Laapata Ladies. He is going out and about to promote the film, which has been directed by Kiran Rao (his ex-wife). At one of the screenings of his production venture, Aamir was asked about his upcoming film as an actor. That's when the actor revealed that he had begun shooting for Sitaare Zameen Par. Khan also shared an expected release date of the movie.

Aamir Khan on Sitaare Zameen Par's release date

Aamir Khan revealed that he started shooting for Sitaare Zameen Par last week. On being asked about the film's theatrical release, Khan said, "We are trying to release it on Christmas this year. Let’s hope it comes by Christmas."

Earlier, in an interview, Aamir had mentioned the theme of both Sitaare Zameen Par and his 2007 film Taare Zameen Par is the same. However, the difference is that while TZP left people with tears, Sitaare Zameen Par will leave the audience in splits. Calling it an 'entertaining film', Aamir stated that the makers are looking at the same topic for Sitaare Zameen Par as the 2007 film but it has a different perspective.

Having said that, his upcoming film's story is not the same as Taare Zameen Par and the characters are also different. Khan said Sitaare Zameen Par is the 'next level' of his old film.

Aamir Khan's last theatrical release

Meanwhile, Aamir was last seen in filmmaker Advait Chandan's Laal Singh Chaddha. The actor played the lead role in the film, which was the Indian adaptation of Tom Hanks' Hollywood film Forrest Gump. In Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir shared screen space with Kareena Kapoor Khan and Mona Singh. Both were his co-stars from the 2009 film 3 Idiots.

Unfortunately, the film failed to work wonders at the box office. Aamir's ex-wife Kiran Rao recently revealed that the actor was deeply affected by the film's failure. It hit the big screen in 2022.
