So, rumour has it that Aamir Khan - who went on a sabbatical after his ambitious 2022 film Laal Singh Chaddha, which was inspired by the Tom Hanks-starrer cult classic Forrest Gump, couldn’t perform well at the box office and also fell victim to the ‘Boycott Bollywood’ trend - is likely to make a comeback with Ghajini 2.

If the latest news reports are to be believed, the Dangal star is apparently in conversation with Telugu producer Allu Aravind - who has supported movies like Shehzada, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo and Sarrainodu - about his upcoming projects, one of which is could be the sequel to AR Murugadoss’ 2008 action thriller film Ghajini

Aamir’s frequent visits to Hyderabad lately to meet the film producer are likely to have sparked speculations about a potential collaboration soon. Recently, an insider told PeepingMoon, “Aamir Khan is discussing a project with producer Allu Aravind, of Geetha Arts. They met last week again for the same. The two have discussed several project ideas, and are eager to work together. But at this point, it is just a mere conversation, with no concrete development, so far.”

Adding to that, the source said, “Aamir and Allu have met on numerous occasions during the past four-five months. Although nobody is aware of what’s actually cooking, Ghajini 2 is definitely one of the projects under consideration. But it’s not yet certain what the other projects are. When things fall into place, we might learn about some developments. But for the time being, it’s all been kept under wraps.”

Also starring Asin, the late Jiah Khan and Pradeep Rawat (as the antagonist), Ghajini was the highest-grossing film of the year it released. Did you know it was also the first Bollywood film to cross the ₹100-crore mark? A remake of Murugadoss’ Tamil film of the same name, the story of Ghajini was inspired by Memento and Happy Go Lovely

Apart from Advait Chandan-directed Laal Singh Chaddha - which also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan - Aamir also made a cameo appearance in Revathi’s slice of life drama film Salaam Venky last year. It featured Kajol and Vishal Jethwa in lead roles.
