R. Madhavan holds a charm that probably nobody else across India (except Shah Rukh Khan) does when it comes to romance. With his Bollywood debut Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, the actor got an entire nation drooling over his charm. Years later, he still holds that kind of charm and his magic is still unmatched. This time, you get to see it with Aap Jaisa Koi, a Netflix film backed by Karan Johar himself. Here's the first teaser...
Set in the heart of Bengal, R. Madhavan's Shrirenu Tripathi reaches Kolkata. That is where he meets Fatima Sana Shaikh's Madhu Bose. They are already lovers and she's just too happy to see him.
While she is interested in French, he's about Sanskrit. Their love for languages, whether rooted or outside of India, is what brings them closer as a couple. It doesn't end there. They also bond over music, even if it means she's attracted to piano and he takes on the sitaar. This is a love that is rare but very beautiful, if it ever works out for real.
Remember the bench overlooking the sea in RHTDM? Something similar happens in Aap Jaisa Koi and the scene is still magical, breathtaking even. They are both seated and get closer, forming a magical moment. Of course, it’s no RHTDM yet, but comes pretty close.
An almost last scene in the teaser reveals that Shri has simply been day-dreaming. She, in the middle of the movie theatre, leaves more hope as she states that a rom-com is possible with them.
Directed by Vivek Soni, Aap Jaisa Koi is backed by Karan Johar's Dharmatic Entertainment. More details on this Netflix film are yet to be out.
