Aarya 2: Ram Madhvani says both seasons of Sushmita Sen starrer are about moral choices and conflicts she faces

Aarya Season 2 will be back with another thrilling and gripping tale of a working mother Aarya Sareen’s journey from being powerless to fearless.   

Created by award-winning director Ram Madhvani, Aarya 2 co-produced by Endemol Shine India and Ram Madhvani Films, the series was nominated for an International Emmy Award for best drama series. The series is about Aarya, a working mother who joins a mafia gang to seek revenge for her husband's murder. The second season of the crime thriller series will continue her story and how she deals with new challenges while fighting her own battles to protect her family.

The trailer of the series, which is an official adaption of the hit Dutch series Penoza by NL Film (Banijay Group), was released recently. Ahead of the release of the second instalment of the drama, Ram Madhvani issued a statement saying the signature element between Aarya 1 and Aarya 2 is really on one hand the moral choices and the moral conflict that she faces. "In Season 1, it was whether she should protect her children and send her father to jail. She chose to be a mother over a daughter and even over a wife. That was her prime conflict. In Season 2, there is again a moral conflict. In the trailer, you see she's back now. Whether she goes away, what happens to her, what leads her to make some choices is the moral conflict and that creates the drama and the tension," he said.

Speaking about the shoot and characters, he said he doesn't like to use three to four cameras but shoot in 360 degrees. "I think the great thing is that all the actors knew their characters. They knew them enough to be able to interject with 'Oh, Aarya wouldn't say this' or 'Daulat wouldn't say this'. They knew their characters so well that it was a delight to work with them," he added.

The second season of Aarya follows the journey of a mother combatting the dark world of crime and enemies closing in on her family and children. Sushmita Sen will be seen reprising the role of Aarya Sareen and she will be joined by actors Sikandar Kher, Vikas Kumar, Mayo Sarao, Ankur Bhatia, Akash Khurana, Dilnaz Irani, amongst others.

Season 2 will be out on Disney+ Hotstar on December 10, 2021.
