Aashiqui 3: Kartik Aaryan to lead the romantic drama helmed by Anurag Basu, actor calls it 'dream come true'

The third instalment of the popular franchise, Aashiqui 3, will star Kartik Aaryan with Anurag Basu helming the film. Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal starred in the 1990 smash blockbuster Aashiqui, which was produced by T-Series and Vishesh Films and directed by Mahesh Bhatt. Aashiqui 2, which was likewise a box office hit and was directed by Mohit Suri and starred Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur, brought the franchise back to life in 2013.

The musical love story's second instalment was more of a spiritual successor than a direct sequel, and its third instalment will follow suit. The music will be provided by Pritam, who has a long and fruitful working connection with Basu and has written the popular scores for several of his movies, including Barfi! Life in a... Metro, and Gangster.

Vishesh Films' producer Mukesh Bhatt said in a statement to Variety that Gulshan Kumar and he were anxious on the evening of August 16, 1990, the day before the release of Aashiqui. The following day, however, history was made and records were broken. The producer can tell everyone that Aashiqui 3 will celebrate love like never before thanks to Bhushan, Pritam, Anurag, and the national heartthrob Kartik.

According to T-Series MD and producer Bhushan Kumar, it's time to experience the movies whose plot and music imprinted our hearts. They are thrilled to announce Aashiqui 3 in partnership with Bhatt, which will be helmed by Basu, one of his all-time favourite directors. The film will undoubtedly have a new side while retaining its original essence. Kartik is the perfect choice for the role; he truly fits the bill and is a true rockstar in every way, thanks to the huge songs he has produced.

Aaryan, one of Bollywood's most commercially successful actors, has enjoyed great success with the T-Series-produced film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. The actor grew up watching the timeless classic Aashiqui, and working on Aashiqui 3 is like living out a dream. He is honoured and thankful to have the chance to work with Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt on this project. Aaryan has always admired Basu's work, and working with him on this project will undoubtedly mould him in many ways.
