The team of the MX Player series Aashram were allegedly attacked by Bajrang Dal activists for 'hurting Hindu sentiments'. The activists allegedly threw ink on the filmmaker Prakash Jha after ransacking the sets of 'Aashram' while the team were shooting for its season 3. The shooting of the series was taking place in Bhopal. The web series stars Bobby Deol as the lead. Deol plays the role of Baba Nirala, a conman in the series.

According to the PTI, the police has stated that the windscreens of two buses of the crew were broken in stone-pelting, with the Bajrang Dal threatening that it would not allow the shooting of this web series further.

The Producers Guild of India issued a statement condemning the "brazen acts of violence, harassment and vandalism faced by the crew involved in the production of the series 'Ashram' in Bhopal." They further urged the authorities to take immediate and strict action against the perpetrators of these acts of violence and to bring them to justice. Check the tweet here:

Many took to their respective social media accounts to express their disappointment and horror over such repeated incidents. Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra also shared a news clip of the incident and wrote, "What ? This is terrible . The industry has to get together otherwise … (do I have to state it ) . Come on , “Associations “ . Stand with your members !"

The filmmaker Jha has been accused of portraying Hindus wrongly by the activists. The MX Player web series is a crime drama that was first released on the OTT platform in August 2020 and is based on the fictional city of Kashipur, an empire created by self-proclaimed Godman Baba Nirala played by Deol. The series also features Tridha Choudhury, Aditi Sudhir Pohankar and Anupriya Goenka.
