A social drama based on a real-life story, the trailer - which dropped earlier today - of director Kamal Chandra’s upcoming film Ab Dilli Dur Nahin promises an intriguing story in the offing. Starring film and theatre actor Imran Zahid and Shruti Sodhi, the movie is inspired by Delhi-based IAS officer Govind Jaiswal’s life.
Written by Dinesh Gautam, the plot revolves around success and failure in life through the story of its protagonist - a simple village boy from Bihar, who eventually goes on to top the IAS exam. Produced by Vinay Bhardwaj and Sanjay Mawar, under the banner of Shining Sun Studios, Ab Dilli Dur Nahin is scheduled to hit the theatres on May 12.
Speaking about his experience of working in the movie, Imran said,”It’s not Govind Jaiswal’s biopic, but inspired from his life. We were looking for a relevant subject that would give out a strong message to the audience, because I believe cinema is the mirror of our society. So, we wanted to create something meaningful and from there the idea of making a motivational film for today’s youth came into existence. The idea is to inspire and strike a chord with one’s heart.”
According to the actor - who has been part of films and series like Mere Rang Mein Rangne Waali, Marksheet and Jannat 2 - playing a real-life character was really challenging. “As an actor, you need to understand the nuances of that character. Additionally, I’ve completed my education from North Campus - Delhi University. That whole area and nearby places are known as the ‘IAS Zone’, because of many UPSC aspirants residing there. So, you can say I’ve been with many UPSC aspirants and that quite helped me to observe and prepare for my role in the film. Bringing that grit and dedication of a civil service aspirant while essaying the role was challenging,” Imran summed up.
