Abar Proloy: Rahul takes a jibe at Raj Chakraborty about Ritwick Chakraborty’s look

Raj Chakraborty’s Proloy series started with a television miniseries Proloy Asche with Abir Chatterjee in 2011. Later, in 2013, the director made a film, Proloy, with Parambrata Chatterjee, Saswata Chatterjee, and others. Now, Raj is all set to debut on OTt as a director with Abar Proloy. The teaser was dropped on Friday. 

The show’s theme is the girl smuggling racket in Sunderban. The iconic cop Animesh Dutta, played by Saswata Chatterjee, is back in full force. The fans are praising the teaser. However, there is also some criticism regarding Ritwik Chakraborty’s look. It is rumored that Pankaj Tripathi’s look in the series Sacred Games is recreated here. The hair and dress are the same. The spectacles are also the same. 

Rahul Arunodoy Banerjee took to his social media to be vocal about the matter. He did not name Raj or the show but wrote on Facebook, “He who used to copy still copies. But instead of Tamil movies, he copies Pankaj Tripathi’s look in Sacred Games. That’s all.” 

Did Rahul target Raj? In an interview with Aajkaal Dot In, he said, “Anyone who sees will understand. I saw and found the similarities, and hence I wrote. My opinions are personal.” Raj and Rahul’s hit film Chirodini Tumi Je Amar was also a copy of a South film. Rahul said that he never denied the fact. Hence he wrote that copying was also done before. 

Meanwhile, Raj said, “I did not copy or follow anything. The film is about Women trafficking. Some characters from Proloy, like Animesh Dutta and Binod Bihari Dutta, will be here. This happens in franchises. Like Barun Biswas, this is also a burning issue in the locality. It needs to be portrayed, and I did that.” About Ritwik’s look, he claimed that he did what needed to be done about a monk’s look. If there is any resemblance, that is coincidental. 

What is his answer to Rahul? Raj said, “I am praised by many and choose to remember them.”
