The makers of Siva's Rajinikanth-starrer Annaatthe had announced a while ago that the film will hit screens on November 4, as a Deepavali release. The rural entertainer features a stellar cast, including Khushbu, Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Meena, Soori and Sathish playing pivotal roles in it. Jagapathi Babu had announced a while ago that he, too, had joined the film's cast. He is teaming up with the Superstar after KS Ravikumar's Lingaa, which released more than six years ago. Prakash Raj and Jackie Shroff are other actors who will be seen essaying prominent roles in the movie.

The latest news on the film is that Abhimanyu Singh has joined the crew, which is busy with the final leg production of the project. This is the first time the actor is working on a film which stars Rajinikanth. He was earlier seen in films like Velayudham, Thalaiva, 10 Enrathukulla and the critically-acclaimed Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru. A source close to the team says, "The team is currently shooting in Lucknow. They will head to Kolkata in a few days to wrap up the final portions."

The shooting of Annaatthe was brought to a halt earlier this year when a few crew members tested positive for the coronavirus. Later, they wrapped up a few crucial portions at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad in a non-stop 35-day schedule and left to Chennai. There are reports that the film is likely to have a clash with Vinoth's Ajith-starrer Valimai. Fans of both the stars are eagerly waiting for an official update from the makers of Valimai. Both Rajinikanth's and Ajith's respective films, Petta and Viswasam, were released on the same day for the Pongal festival of 2019. Interestingly, Siva was the director for Viswasam, which had music by Imman. The composer has been roped in for Annaatthe, too.
