Adipurush promises to be filmmaker Om Raut’s magnum opus. One of the most highly awaited upcoming releases, the film promises to be a mythological drama mounted on a grand scale. Although the project is keeping him busy at the moment, it seems that the director is already looking to helm his next. It was recently reported that Raut is looking to rope in Abhishek Bachchan for the former’s next directorial.
According to a report in Pinkvilla, Raut and Bachchan are currently in talks for the director’s upcoming project, touted to be an action drama. A source told the portal that Raut considered Bachchan a perfect fit for the film, and the actor too liked the subject of the film. The talks between the two for the project are, however, still in the initial stages.
Bachchan was recently seen in the social comedy film Dasvi, directed by Tushar Jalota. The film, which follows the story of a jailed politician who decides to earn his high school diploma, also features Nimrat Kaur and Yami Gautam Dhar in pivotal roles. The actor is also currently filming for Ghoomer, reuniting with Paa (2009) director R Balki for the project.
Meanwhile, Raut’s last directorial was Tanhaji (2020). Starring Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan and Kajol, the Hindi film is available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. Raut’s next release Adipurush is based on the Hindu epic Ramayana and stars Prabhas in the lead as Raghava. Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan also star in it, essaying the roles of Janaki and Lankesh. The film also stars Sunny Singh, Devdatta Nage, Vatsal Seth and Trupti Toradmal in key roles.
The film is slated to release in theatres on January 12, 2023, in Hindi and Telugu along with its dubbed versions in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
