After the release of Dasvi's trailer Abhishek Bachchan's father, the one and only Amitabh Bachchan, was all praises for his son's acting skills. In a tweet, Big B called him his "uttaradhikari" (successor).
In a recent interview with ETimes, Abhishek spoke about the praises his legendary actor father heaped at him, and said that he only works to make his family proud, and is glad that his efforts are being appreciated: Well, I don’t know, any individual, an actor or any other professional, as and when they’re recognised, let alone praised by their idol or their hero, it’s not going to make their life. So I’m in a similar situation."
The actor added that any effort he puts is "to make my family proud, to know that they have not only seen my work, but also recognise the effort put into it, and appreciate it."

In Dasvi, which releases on Netflix and Jio Cinema on April 8, Abhishek plays a politician named Gangaram Chaudhary who has only studied till Class 8. After he's sent to judicial custody for being involved in a scam, he takes it up on him to finish his high school diploma.
The film is directed by newcomer Tushar Jalota and also stars Nimrat Kaur and Yami Gautam in pivotal roles. Dasvi comes from Maddock Films, who have previously brought to screen socially relevant topics in Hindi Medium and Angrezi Medium.
Recently, the makers of the film held a screening for the inmates at the Agra Central Jail, where a portion of the film has been shot.
