Abhishek Bachchan will be seen as a strict cricket coach in the upcoming film, Ghoomer. The actor called his character of a venomous tongue. The R Balki directorial sees Abhishek in the role of Padam Singh Sodhi aka Paddy.

Abhishek spoke to Pinkvilla about the film and his character. He shares about how Ghoomer evolved with time. Although he liked the story, Abhishek was hooked to the character.

“I really enjoyed the fact that he has got that venomous tongue. He's very bitter, nasty and not a pleasant person but these are all coming from a deep-rooted love for what he does,” the actor said.

He further calls Paddy the ‘most sensitive emotional person’ in the film. Abhishek feels like the character has a complete contradiction in who he is vs who he displays.

Recently, Amitabh Bachchan saw the film and was left in tears. The actor shared the same on social media through a lengthy post. He saw the film back-to-back, twice. He feels like the film is about what middle India is for in our lives. “Of that most powerful written spoken word: Ek loser kya mehsoos karta hai, woh toh mujhe maloom hai; main dekhna chahta hun ki ek winner kya, kaese mehsoos karte hai,” he added in his post.

Ghoomer stars Saiyami Kher as the female lead. It also features Shabana Azmi and Angad Bedi in pivotal roles.

The film has already featured at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. It will release in theatres on August 18.
