Abhishek Bachchan shares he was unfamiliar with Saswata Chatterjee's version of Bob Biswas before shooting for spin-off

Abhishek Bachchan, who played contract killer Bob Biswas in the ZE E5 film, recently spoke about how he had no idea what Saswata Chatterjee's rendition of the character had been like in Kahaani. 

Bachchan said that he had met with Sujoy Ghosh who narrated the script about a hitman who had lost his memory, a premise he found interesting. But it was only during lockdown did he watch Kahaani and was introduced to Chatterjee's Bob Biswas.

"I saw Kahaani during the lockdown after we had shot a chunk of the film. I got to know months later that this was a character from Kahaani," the actor told Mid-Day.

He shared that the biggest challenge of playing Bos Biswas was the physical transformation. Bachchan had to gain weight to look the part. 

When asked if his vision of who Bob Biswas is changed after watching Kahaani, Bachchan said that in the climax when it's shown that Bob's wife and son are ruthlessly murdered by hitmen. Because of this incident, he turned into a cold-blooded killer. 

"I could have perhaps portrayed the scene in a more emotional way," confided Bachchan.

Bob Biswas is directed by newcomer Diya Annapurna Ghosh. It is produced by Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma of Red Chillies Entertainment and Sujoy Ghosh via his Bound Script Production banner.

Chitrangada Singh, Pabitra Rabha, Rajatabha Das, Tina Desai, Purab Kohli, among others are seen in supporting roles.

Meanwhile, Bachchan's upcoming projects include Dasvi, a Hindi remake of Oththa Seruppu Size 7 and a cricket-based sports drama Ghoomer.

Bob Biswas is now streaming on ZEE5.
