Abhishek Banerjee opens up on reuniting with Stree 2 co-star Rajkummar Rao for Toaster: 'Now, it's about...'

Rajkummar Rao ventured into production with the Netflix film Toaster. The actor has backed the project along with his wife, Patralekhaa. This project is special for Rao as it also marks his reunion with Stree 2 co-star Abhishek Banerjee. The actors have worked together in both installments of Stree. Hence, when Rajkummar approached Abhishek for his film Toaster, the actor didn't think twice before giving his nod. In a recent interview, Abhishek spoke about reuniting with Rajkummar for Toaster. He also revealed how their relationship has evolved over the years.

In an interview with Mid-Day, Abhishek Banerjee said he wanted to be a part of a new chapter in Rajkummar Rao's career. Shedding light on his evolved equation with Rao, the actor said, "We have evolved from colleagues to great friends. I knew I had to be there in any capacity possible for this project as Patralekhaa and he make their debut as producers."

He further mentioned, "Now, it’s about backing each other, being there for each other’s dreams. We’ve worked together before, so we knew it would be fun again." Abhishek added that it was inspiring to watch his friend Rajkummar take charge as a producer and shape a film.

For the uninitiated, Abhishek will be seen sharing screen space with Rajkummar in Toaster. The film also stars Sanya Malhotra in a pivotal role. At the Next on Netflix event, Toaster's official teaser was unveiled.
