Actor Abhishek Banerjee ended 2022 on a high note with his last release of the year. In the Varun Dhawan-starrer Bhediya, Abhishek’s character - Janna - was widely appreciated. As the actor is gearing up with multiple projects for 2023, he reveals more about the much-awaited film - Stree 2 - among others.

While he said that he is quite excited about the lineup that he is working on, looking back at the success of Bhediya, he was initially apprehensive and explained why. “I was very nervous about JD, aka Janna, as it had to be similar yet different from Stree. But thankfully, it was received well by the audience. Now, the journey of Stree 2 will be super exciting,” he said.

The character of Janna was first introduced in the Rajkummar Rao-starrer film Stree in 2018. It was built further in Bhediya, and will now be continued in Stree 2, as a part of a multiverse.

The actor also appeared in Mirzapur, Typewriter, The Great Weddings of Munnes, Paatal Lok, Kaali 2 and PariWar in recent times. He has also acted in films like Bala, Made In China, Bhosle, Unpaushed, Ajeeb Daastaans, Helmet, Ankahi Kahaniya, Rashmi Rocket and Qala, to name a few.

Starting his career as a casting director, Abhishek shifted his gear to acting and with each project, he earned fans for his acting skill. The actor recently finished shooting for the film Apurva, and will soon be seen in the Netflix original multi-starrer web series, titled Rana Naidu. The series features Rana Daggubati, Venkatesh Daggubati, Suchitra Pillai, Surveen Chawla, and Ashish Vidyarthi, along with Abhishek. He will also be seen in Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Dream Girl 2.

As the actor is exploring different characters, Abhishek said, “I’m thrilled to see how people will react to some very extreme characters. The playground is going to get bigger and better this year.”
