Abraham Ozler OTT release date: Jayaram, Mammootty’s investigative drama to begin streaming on this platform

After a successful theatrical run spanning over a month, Malayalam filmmaker Midhun Manuel Thomas’ latest investigative drama Abraham Ozler, which has Jayaram in the titular character, is all set to begin streaming on OTT.

According to reports, the film, which also has Mammootty in an extended cameo, is set to begin streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from February 16. Official confirmation is still awaited, but it does look likely, considering with films such as Premalu, Anweshippin Kandethum, Bramayugam, Thundu and Marivillin Gopurangal occupying most of the theatres in Kerala, leaving no room for Abraham Ozler to extend its theatrical run.

Abraham Ozler is Jayaram’s highest-grossing Malayalam movie

Prior to the film’s release in January, Jayaram was gung-ho about being part of the investigative thriller as it had him in a role that he has rarely aced in the recent few years. Mammootty’s cameo in the film added the much-needed boost for the film in the second half.

In its overall theatrical run, the film grossed over Rs 40 crore worldwide, making it Jayaram’s highest box-office earner ever in Malayalam. With that, Midhun completed a trifecta – with his films being the highest-grossing movies of Kunchacko Boban, Jayasurya and Jayaram.

Abraham Ozler’s OTT release is also much anticipated by the fans as well as the platform, which struck gold with its previous Malayalam film Neru resulting in a massive number of views for Disney+ Hotstar.

Abraham Ozler sequel on the cards?

Following the film’s success, the makers could greenlight its sequel sooner than later . The film, which starts off with a tragedy from its titular character’s past, doesn’t quite explore it until the movie’s epilogue. This also hints at the sequel – which will follow its antagonist essayed by Arjun Ashokan as Jayaram’s Ozler sets out to find out where his wife and daughter are, probably with some assistance from Mammootty’s character.
