Why did Konkona Sensharma, Pratibha Ranta say yes to Accused?
Speaking to ANI, Konkona Sensharma noted that the idea was unique and rarely explored, emphasising that extensive research helped shape the narrative. She said, "When I got the offer, I was very excited. We have never heard of a case where the accused is a woman, since the perpetrators are mostly male."
She said that when the writing and direction team conducted their research, they discovered that cases like this actually existed. "I think there is a lot of documentation in the US and the UK. They wrote the script based on that research. I found it very unusual," Konkona said.
On the other hand, Pratibha Rannta revealed she got two scenes when she auditioned for the film. "I read them, and those scenes interested me a lot. I had never read anything like this before. Ma'am saw my audition. She liked it," she said.
She explained that the team slowly developed the story over a period of months. She said that she was not given a written script for the film and only received the initial idea. "I had never heard of a story where a woman is accused of sexual harassment at work. I really liked this idea. We started from there. I have worked with the writers of this film, Yash and Seema. We wrote the script for six to eight months. We created the script. It started from that idea," Pratibha said.
