Ace box office collection day 1: Vijay Sethupathi’s heist comedy thriller begins on good note

Ace, the 2025 Tamil film starring actor Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role, released in theatres on May 23, Friday. The film has collected Rs 1 crore at the box office in India on its first day. Also starring Rukmini Vasanth, Yogi Babu and others, the film is a crime comedy thriller.

Ace, featuring the Super Deluxe actor Vijay Sethupathi (who was last seen in Viduthalai: Part 2 ) in the lead role, debuted in theatres on May 23. The film is a comedy crime thriller drama which also marked the debut of Kannada actor Rukmini Vasanth.

As per reports, the film has collected Rs 1 crore at the box office in India on the first day. The film, which opened to middling reviews by critics, might see a good turnout over the weekend. Ace is directed by Aarumugakumar, who has previously worked with Vijay Sethupathi in Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren.

Yogi Babu, Divya Pillai, Babloo Prithveeraj, BS Avinash, Muthu Kumar, Raj Kumar, Denes Kumar, and others are also part of the film. Ace is produced by 7Cs Entertainment, who also made Laabam with Vijay Sethupathi. Justin Prabhakaran has scored the music for Ace, with Karan B Rawat as cinematographer. Fenny Oliver is the editor.

The post-theatrical streaming rights of the film have been bagged by Prime Video. Ace is expected to stream sometime in June.

The story of Ace follows Bold Kannan, who wishes to make a fresh start abroad, and lands in Malaysia only for it to take a dark turn when a heist that goes awry pulls him into the world of crime. He must now navigate a web of deceit and danger, and come out for his survival, along with a group of characters he meets in the new country.
