Acharya gets a new release date: Chiranjeevi-Ram Charan starrer will hit the screens during THIS festive weekend

Just a day after it was announced that the Telugu film Acharya had been postponed, the makers have unveiled the new release date. Yes, the film featuring Megastar Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, Kajal Aggarwal, and Pooja Hegde in the lead roles is getting a Ugadi festival release. Acharya is hitting the big screens on April 11, 2022, much to the excitement of the fans. The film is directed by Koratala Siva.

While making the announcement, the official Twitter page of Konidela Production Company shared a poster featuring Chiranjeevi and wrote, "This Ugadi, Witness the MEGA MASS on big screens #Acharya Grand Release on April 1 Fire #AcharyaOnApril1 Megastar @KChiruTweets @AlwaysRamCharan #Sivakoratala @MsKajalAggarwal @hegdepooja #ManiSharma #NiranjanReddy @MatineeEnt @KonidelaPro."

Earlier, while announcing the postponement of the film, a statement issued by the makers read, "Due to the ongoing widespread of COVID, the release of Acharya is postponed." A new release date will be announced soon. I wish everyone a happy Sankranthi. Please stay safe and follow all the COVID protocols."

In the film, Acharya, a Naxalite-turned-social reformer, takes on the Endowments Department, accusing them of misappropriating and embezzling temple cash and donations.

The film also features Sonu Sood, Jisshu Sengupta, Saurav Lokesh, Kishore, Posani Krishna Murali, Tanikella Bharani, Ajay and Sangeetha Krish in supporting roles.

The technical team includes cinematographer Tirru, editor Naveen Nooli, and composer Mani Sharma.

Fans can't wait to witness the father-son duo create a storm on the big screen with their outing together in Acharya.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film was originally slated to be released on May 13, 2021, but was postponed. Acharya was then supposed to be released in theatres on February 4, 2022, but owing to the pandemic, it was pushed back to April 1, 2022.

Meanwhile, Charan's upcoming film, RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli and co-starring Jr. NTR, has also been postponed indefinitely.
