Acharya, which stars Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan, is getting closer to its release date. Director Koratala Siva has opened up about Ram Charan’s role in the movie evolved from being just a cameo.

During one of its promotion shows, Siva and Chiranjeevi have a conversation about how the movie began and how it ended up being a Chirnajeevi starrer.

Chiranjeevi explained that Siva approached them with a movie for Ram Charan, but the RRR actor had reservations about giving the filmmaker a date because he was working on S.S. Rajamouli’s mega project at the time. It was Charan who gave the idea of making the movie with his father in the lead.

“I immediately told Charan that I would get a chance to work with him anytime in the future, but to direct Chiranjeevi is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and thus wanted to take up a subject that will complement Chiranjeevi,” said Koratala Siva.

The director added that Ram Charan’s role in the movie began as just a cameo but as the movie developed, so did his role. He further went on to say that developing his role became an interesting aspect of the movie and that it is one of the important roles in the action drama.

Written and directed by Siva, Acharya also stars Pooja Hegde, Sonu Sood, Jisshu Sengupta, Saurav Lokesh, Kishore, Posani Krishna Murali, Tanikella Bharani, Ajay and Sangeetha Krish in supporting roles.

Kajal Aggarwal was also a part of the movie’s cast, but her role has been completely chopped off from Acharya. Multiple reasons have b een speculated for this, but the director revealed that her character did not gel with the story.

Acharya, which will reportedly see Ram Charan share screen with his father for around 45 minutes, is set to hit theatres on April 29.
