The action entertainer is directed by Koratala Siva and also stars Ram Charan, Pooja Hegde and Sonu Sood in crucial roles
Filmmaker Koratala Siva's much-awaited collaboration with Chiranjeevi and Kajal Aggarwal, Acharya, has been in the making for nearly a year and a half, facing several shoot delays owing to the pandemic. The fans have been restlessly waiting for two years to watch their on-screen idol on the big screen after Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. It looks like they will have a reason to celebrate now. Reports indicate that Acharya, produced by Ram Charan and Niranjan Reddy under Konidela Production Company and Matinee Entertainment, is finally releasing on December 17. The film's shoot was wrapped only recently.
The team of Acharya had met earlier in the day considering several alternatives and have finalised the date after an extensive round of discussions. December 17, incidentally, was also announced as the release date of Pushpa, actor Allu Arjun's pan Indian action film Pushpa directed by Sukumar. It is believed that Pushpa will now seek an alternative release date in an already packed calendar. Stakes are running high on both the films that feature the biggest names in the Telugu industry, from Chiranjeevi to Ram Charan to Allu Arjun, Pooja Hegde, Kajal Aggarwal, Fahadh Faasil, Sonu Sood and Rashmika Mandanna.
Acharya is reportedly a story revolving around a Naxalite-turned-social reformer who fights the system and corrupt officials over mishandling of funds and donations for temples. Ram Charan (as a student leader) and Pooja Hegde are to be seen in extended cameos. Jisshu Sengupta, Saurav Lokesh, Kishore, Tanikella Bharani, Ajay, Regina Cassandra form the supporting cast. Mani Sharma composes the music for the film and a song released a few months ago titled Laahe Laahe, is inching towards the 100 million mark on YouTube. Acharya has cinematography by Tirru and is edited by Naveen Nooli.
