Malayalam star Nivin Pauly and director Abrid Shine have been in the headlines lately because of a legal trouble over a film's rights. A cheating case has been filed by the Kerala Police against the director and actor in relation to the rights to the upcoming movie, Action Hero Biju 2. In a recent twist, Nivin has now accused producer PS Shamnas of creating documents that had the actor's fake signature.
Nivin Pauly files complaint against PS Shamnas
In 2023, Nivin Pauly, filmmaker Abrid Shine, and Shamnas, a resident of Thalayolaparamba, signed an agreement for Action Hero Biju 2 that gave Nivin Pauly's production firm, Pauly Jr., all the film's rights. Without disclosing this, Shamnas bought the film's name rights from the Film Chamber.
A falsified paper bearing Nivin Pauly's signature was fabricated for this purpose. Following the findings of the police inquiry, Shamnas has been charged by the Palarivattom police. Furthermore, according to Nivin's lawsuit, Shamnas plotted to degrade the actor in public and on social media and used threats to gain leverage while contract disagreements remained. The Film Chamber will take action against Shamnas as well because it was discovered that the signature was fake.

Action Hero Biju's director and lead actor, Abrid Shine and Nivin Pauly, were the subjects of a police report recently. The Thalayolaparamba police in Kerala's Kottayam district filed the FIR on non-bailable offences. Shamnas, Mahaveeryar's co-producer, claimed he was defrauded of the rights to the movie Action Hero Biju 2, which prompted the filing of the lawsuit. According to the FIR, the complainant also sustained a loss of Rs 1.90 crore.
Eight years after the release of the first movie in 2015, Action Hero Biju 2 was announced in 2024. The sequel's director, Abrid Shine, is back. JioHotstar via OTTplay Premium is streaming the prequel. With several films scheduled for release this year, Nivin Pauly is one of the busiest Malayalam actors in the industry.
