Kannada actor-director MG Srinivas is known for coming up with creative projects. From his debut Topiwala to his recent Birbal Trilogy Case 1: Finding Vajramuni, he managed to showcase a lot of offbeat elements through a quirky sense of humour. His upcoming movie Old Monk also promises the same.
The filmmaker recently introduced its concept involving the divine sage Narada and his quest to find love on Earth. Touted to be a rom-com, the movie is about the sage from Hindu mythology who has been instructed by Lord Krishna to find love and companionship on Earth to understand the true value of love.
According to a TOI report, Srinivas was quoted as saying, “The film starts on this funny note and takes a new shape once Narada hits the ground, literally, and goes about his mission. Narada, the sanyasi, meets new challenges and it's this journey that makes up the rest of the story.”
He will be romancing Aditi Prabhudeva in Old Monk.
Srinivas will be donning the hat of both actor and director for the third time. At the same time, he finds it challenging to be playing both roles at the same time. He has collaborated with actor Pooja Devariya (who appeared in Dhanush’s Mayakkam Enna) for discovering new techniques of acting before the start of filming.
The first look was revealed by actors Nivin Pauly, Rakshit Shetty and Satyadev Kancharana in April. The team of the Old Monk will possibly start filming in September. The release date and the platform where it will be coming on is yet to be finalised, based on the pandemic situation.
