A look at Malayalam actress Ahaana Krishna’s filmography, apart from her debut film with director Rajeev Ravi, would hint that the actress is more at home working with filmmakers, who are young or relatively new to the industry. But Ahaana is quick to correct this.

The actress, in an exclusive chat with OTTplay, says, “I would never choose a film on the basis of if it’s done by a young or a senior team. I would only look if it’s a good film or not, if it’s a script that excites me or not. The age or seniority of the person helming it doesn’t matter.”

Ahaana, who made her debut in 2014 with Njan Steve Lopez, has been part of six movies including Althaf Salim’s Njandukalude Naattil Oridavela, Arun Bose’s Luca and the latest being Prasobh Vijayan’s Adi. “I have mostly worked with younger teams because they picked me, not the other way around. However, with all these people, I have worked on collaborative pieces,” she says.

On her experience while shooting her debut film in 2014, the actress says, “My first film was with a senior team and I didn’t interact much because I didn’t know what to talk about. I was very young; I was 18 and I wasn’t the most extroverted person out there. So, I would just go to the sets and do what I was asked to and return. I would probably just talk to my co-actor Farhaan (Faasil) because I could sync with him.”

She, however, explains that’s not the case now. “I am such an extrovert now that I am extremely comfortable making conversations with anybody, irrespective of their age,” she says. “I am a very collaborative person. I love being involved in everything; I love contributing as much as I can. So, I am open to working with people of all age groups.”

Ahaana’s latest release Adi hit theatres on April 14. The movie has her playing newlywed Geethika. “She was an exciting character right from the time I heard the narration, read the script, got to perform to now, when I get to speak about her. She is very integral in moving the story forward; it’s always exciting to get to play a good character in a good story,” Ahaana concludes.
