It seems that the controversy surrounding the Prabhas starrer film ‘Adipurush’ will not diminish any time soon. With each passing day, those seeking a ban on the film are only seeming to be increasing. This time round, it’s ‘All India Cine Workers Association’ who has now raised their voice against the film and its makers. As per a news report in ANI, the said association has now written a letter addressed to Amit Shah (Minister of Home Affairs of India), the body has demanded an FIR to be filed against the makers of the film ‘Adipurush’.
The said letter read as, ‘This letter is to draw your attention towards a Movie called Adipurush which was released on 16th June 2023 in the theatres across India, have been Hurting the Sentiments of Hindu religion and the people who belief and pray Bhagwan Ram, Maa Sita and Ram sevak Bhagwan hanuman, the Movie running in the theatres continues to depict the image of Bhagwan Ram and entire Ramayan and the producers also want to make money selling discounted tickets across the Multiplexes, which will send a wrong message about our learning and faith the Ramayan, the Makers T-Series and the producers, Writer Manoj Muntasir, and director Om Raut have made a mockery of Ramayan by twisting the dialogues, the costumes and the story line (characters which sounds unacceptable to anybody and everybody. Being a follower of Hinduism, the religious sentiments of the entire Hindu and Sanatan Dharma are hurt by the scenes, costumes and dialogues which is depicting wrong image of the invincible and immortal God of Hindus."
The letter continued as "Ramayan what we know is twisted completely as per the taste of the Adipurush movie makers. We are requesting you to lodge an FIR against the makers of Adipurush producers and Bhushan Kumar T series and others, the director Om Raut and the writer Manoj Muntasir Shukla".
Prior to this, it was the Hindu Sena which had filed a plea stating that, the film should not be certified for public exhibition. They reasoned it stating, the film has hurt the Hindu sentiments by allegedly mocking the epic Ramayan, Lord Ram, and the Indian culture.
Readers may recall that, in an exclusive interview with OTTplay, Sunil Lahri had strongly objected to the film’s subject plot and also to the makers claiming that they were inspired by Ramayan. Sunil, who is considered as the ‘OG Lakshman’ had told us stating, “The costumes of the characters are totally negative. The film’s scenes neither have any clarity of character’s characterisation, nor have the makers defined the characters. Ram and Laxman look almost the same, just with little difference though. Ravan and Meghnath also look the same. I really felt no difference between the characters of Ravan, Meghnath and Kumbhkaran. It took time for me to understand who is who in the storyline!”
Sunil Lahri also added, In the film, there is no kingdom, no fireworks, no palace. In short, there is nothing that will justify the amount of Rs. 500 crores. In that case, on what and on who, did the makers spend that much amount? Was it on the snakes’ scene or on the monkeys?”
