After scoring consecutive hits, Hit 2 and Major, last year, Adivi Sesh is joining forces with Shruti Haasan for an action drama that’ll be simultaneously filmed in Telugu and Hindi. Supriya Yarlagadda of Annapurna Studios is producing the film, which was formally announced last week. Kshanam, Goodachari cinematographer Shaneil Deo makes his directorial debut with the film.

The makers of the film launched multiple looks at its lead actors recently, suggesting it’s an actioner revolving around exes. While unveiling its title teaser today, it’s official that the film is named Dacoit. The gripping teaser offers you a peek into the film’s world, where Sesh and Shruti, once a couple, are now pitted against one another, out to destroy each other.

The face-off in the teaser hints at a juicy premise where the protagonists, despite their pasts, need to come together for a purpose. The makers say it’s an ‘explosion of guns and roses, betrayal and trust, and, above all, love and loss.’ Dacoit, as per the media statement of the production house, is a story about two former lovers committing a series of robberies that change their lives.

Reacting to the title teaser, Nagarjuna Akkineni tweeted, “Happy that @AnnapurnaStdios is presenting #Dacoit. Complex characters, grey shades and a lot of action!!! Most of all, it’s a love story. @Adivisesh & @shrutihaasan look ready to deliver :) Looking forward to my former DOP @Deonidas directorial debut & all the best to producers Supriya & Suniel!”

Dacoit, the second straight Hindi film for Sesh after Major, will release in 2024. Sesh, who’s co-written it along with Shaneil, says the film is ‘grand without being grandiose’ and ‘elegant without being uppity.’ He hints at a rustic, explosive film with characters set in the hinterlands of India. Shruti Haasan labels Dacoit as a story filled with anger, passion and elegance. The film goes on floors soon.
