Ae Watan Mere Watan: Varun Dhawan drops MAJOR hint about Sara Ali Khan’s character in quirky video; watch

Bollywood superstar Varun Dhawan took to social media, and in a quirky video unveiled on Tuesday that in the upcoming film Ae Watan Mere Watan, Sara Ali Khan will be portraying the character of a valiant, lion-hearted freedom fighter.

In the delightful video, Varun mimicked Sara's signature 'Namaste Darshakon' style and addressed her as 'the square root of Amrita Singh' before sharing the 'big news'.

The upcoming film is produced by Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta under the Dharmatic Entertainment Production.

Based on true events, the action thriller is a fictional tale set against the backdrop of Quit India Movement in 1942. The film is written by Darab Farooqui and Kannan Iyer. Kannan also directed the film.

Varun and Sara had worked together earlier in the film named Coolie No. 1 that interestingly released on Prime Video as well, in 2020.

However, this is not the first time that one of Sara’s films will have an OTT release. She was last seen in the successful film Atrangi Re, in which she shared screen space with two superstars - Akshay Kumar and Dhanush. Atrangi Re released on Disney+Hotstar.

Starting her career in 2018 with the film Kedarnath opposite the late Sushant Singh Rajput, Sara has got her fan base for both her beautiful screen presence and acting skills, with successful films like Simmba with Ranveer Singh, and Atrangi Re. Her sense of humour, funny videos on social media and her outspoken and opinionated voice, through which she addressed important subjects like body positivity, the value of education, and menstrual cycle, also gained her a dedicated fan following.

As the makers of Ae Watan Mere Watan are yet to disclose the look of Sara in the upcoming film, it will be a treat for the fans to know how and in which character of a freedom fighter Sara would be playing.

Apart from Ae Watan Mere Watan, the actress also finished shooting two films, in which she will share the screen with Vicky Kaushal and Vikrant Massey.
