After Animal’s success, Rashmika Mandanna to begin filming for The Girlfriend

Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘jog nahi rog hai’ dialogue from Animal’s trailer triggered a flurry of memes and reactions from crowds, but the actress managed to silence all her odds with a fabulous performance in the Ranbir Kapoor starrer. Her portrayal of the Telugu speaking girl Geetanjali, who has a complex equation with her husband, has won over critics and audiences alike.

While the film continues to break new box office records worldwide, the actress is now moving onto the shoot of her new Telugu film The Girlfriend. The film is directed by Rahul Ravindran, the man behind Chi La Sow and Manmadhudu 2. Three popular banners - Geetha Arts, Mass Movie Makers, Dheeraj Mogilineni Entertainment - come together to produce the film.

Sharing an update about the project on Instagram, the actress wrote, “And finally now it’s Mumbai to Hyderabad. For about 20 days my loves. Starting The Girlfriend tomorrow. Need all your love and blessings.” The actress has already shared that it is one of the finest scripts she heard lately. The film was formally launched a few days ago in the presence of Allu Aravind and several top directors in the industry.

The Girlfriend has music by Hi Nanna, Kushi fame composer Hesham Abdul Wahab. Popular technician duo S Ramakrishna and Monika Nigotre handle production design for the film which has cinematography by Krishnan Vasant. Shravya Varma is the costume designer and Allu Aravind is the presenter. The other cast, crew will be announced soon. The film is expected to hit theatres by mid 2024.

Meanwhile, Rahul Ravindran is also acting in two films - Guntur Kaaram and his Hindi debut Jigra. Rashmika Mandanna is part of projects like Pushpa 2, Rainbow and Chaava as well - all of them will release in 2024. Apart from Animal, she had two releases in 2023 including Varisu in Tamil and Mission Majnu in Hindi.
