It seems Telugu superstar Allu Arjun is the first choice for Tamil filmmakers when it comes to cross-industry collaboration. Even as the speculations about director Atlee of Jawan fame working with the Pushpa star have been growing stronger, the latest buzz suggests there's another hit Tamil director who's eager to join forces with Allu Arjun.

If the speculations are to be believed, director Nelson has approached Allu Arjun with a script. The director reportedly met the Telugu superstar and has given a narration. It's said that actress Pooja Hegde and composer Anirudh have also been approached for the project. However, an official announcement on the same is awaited.

After scoring a massive hit with Jailer, Nelson has become a force to reckon with in the Indian film industry.

Nelson's career saved by Jailer

It's noteworthy that Jailer was a 'make or break' movie for Nelson. After the release of Beast, his reputation took a hit. Beast, starring Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role, was released amid a lot of pre-release hype. Unfortunately, it received overwhelmingly negative reviews from critics. However, this didn't prevent the movie from becoming a commercial success, thanks to Vijay's immense popularity. The commercial success of Beast gave Nelson a much-needed second chance to redeem himself as a filmmaker.

Sun Pictures, which bankrolled Beast, also produced Jailer. Ahead of the movie's release last month, Rajinikanth revealed that he faced significant pressure to replace Nelson due to the poor critical reception of Beast. Despite this, Rajinikanth chose to support Nelson and expressed confidence in his ability to create an enjoyable film. And Rajinikanth's gamble on Nelson paid off as Jailer became the biggest earner in his career, second only to 2.0.

Allu Arjun's exciting line-up

Allu Arjun is now busy shooting for his upcoming movie Pushpa: The Rule, which is the follow-up movie to his 2022 blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise. Written and directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2 is set to arrive in cinemas on August 15, 2024. Following this he's expected to collaborate with interesting directors, including Atlee and Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
