The film Bagha Jatin, starring Dev, was released on October 19 and got the expected response from the audience. Halls were crowded on the first day. Fans celebrated with dhaks and dhols. In some places, they put garlands on Dev’s photos. On the opening day, Dev made a special request to his fans.

Dev wrote on his Twitter account, “One request pls don’t upload any footage from the film while watching #BaghaJatin or any other films which are releasing simultaneously.” Lots of piracies happen nowadays. A film comes online just after getting released. Also, posting small clips is a new trend. Dev asked his fans not to do those things.

Netizens responded positively to this request and said that they would not record any part of the film. One person wrote, “We don't support piracy. We will watch the film in the halls, or we will not watch at all.” “Yes dada, none of us supports it. We loved your film,” wrote another. A fan wrote, “You won everyone’s heart.”

This Puja, four Bengali films have been released. Along with Dev’s Bagha Jatin, which is directed by Arun Roy, Srijit Mukherji’s Dawshom Awbotaar, Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s Raktabeej and Arindam Sil’s Jongole Mitin Mashi are also seeing successful runs.
