The actor joined the cast of the K Madhu directorial in Kochi on Wednesday

Sudani from Nigeria and Kumbalangi Nights actor Soubin Shahir is the latest to join the stellar cast of Mammootty’s CBI 5, which is currently being filmed in Kochi. The movie’s director took to social media to announce that the actor has joined the team on Wednesday.
Soubin is the most recent actor to join the team in this schedule, which resumed after a break of two weeks due to Mammootty testing positive for coronavirus. Dileesh Pothan, Kaniha and Asha Sharath are also part of this schedule, which is expected to last 40 days before the movie wraps up filming.
While Soubin’s character is kept under wraps, the film’s scriptwriter SN Swamy had earlier told OTTplay that Dileesh will be seen as Kerala Chief Minister in the movie while Asha Sharath will be playing the role of a lawyer.
The big-budget movie, which marks the fifth instalment in the CBI Sethurama Iyer franchise, also has several actors from the previous films returning including Mukesh as Chacko and Jagathy as Vikram. This will mark Jagathy’s comeback to films after the car accident in 2012.
Apart from these artistes, the film also has Ramesh Pisharody, Saikumar, Renji Panicker, Malavika Menon and Prasanth Alexander as part of the cast. Mammootty rejoined the shoot of CBI 5 last week and is expected to complete his portions in one go, before moving on to Lijo Jose Pellissery’s segment from the Netflix trilogy, based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s stories.
Meanwhile, Soubin and Mammootty previously teamed up in Amal Neerad’s upcoming film Bheeshma Parvam, which is set to hit theatres on March 3. The gangster thriller, set in the 80s, has Soubin playing a character named Ajas while the megastar will be seen as Michael, a former gangster who is forced to revisit his past after his family is threatened. Shine Tom Chacko, Farhaan Faasil, Nadiya Moidu and Srinda are also part of the cast of Bheeshma Parvam.
