Anaganaga is turning out to be a smash hit on OTT, and with each passing day, it is clocking new records in the Telugu OTT space. Now that the family drama has crossed over 200 million streaming minutes, the makers have done the unthinkable, they’ve decided to release Anaganaga in theaters.
The team arranged a special celebration, and during his speech, the Boni actor, Sumanth, stated that the film will first be released in Vijayawada and Vizag, followed by a wider release across the rest of the Telugu states. The Boni actor also noted that this is the first time something like this has happened, a film released on OTT is now getting a theatrical release.
Sunny Sanjay, who directed the film, shared that ever since Anaganaga was released on ETV Win and OTTplay Premium, there has been massive demand for a theatrical release. “At first, we took the queries lightly, but as the demand grew, we finally decided to give Anaganaga a limited theatrical release,” said Sunny.
This is an unprecedented move in the Telugu OTT space, and Anaganaga, starring the Malli Raava actor, is the first Telugu film to follow this path. Kshanam fame Adivi Sesh was the chief guest at the event. He said, “I started watching the film on a flight. Without realizing it, I had tears in my eyes. Anaganaga made me emotional. I loved it so much that I watched it twice. Films like this deserve a wider audience, and I’m happy it’s getting a theatrical release.”
Sumanth also revealed that after the success of Malli Raava, he struggled to find a script that would do justice to his talent. “I didn’t like Anaganaga’s script initially. But when Sunny came on board, everything changed. They adapted the changes superbly, and now everyone is talking about my performance. I’m so happy to see success after a long time,” said Sumanth.
