While talking to Komal Nahta on Game Changers, Aamir Khan revealed that he never wanted to be a producer and realized it early on. "Mujhe lagta hai jab maine apne father ka career dekha first-hand, toh mujhe realize hua mujhe producer kabhi nahi banna hai," the actor said, stating that it was mainly because a producer invests, takes a huge risk and faces all the backlash also. He also added how there are times when the team doesn't co-operate with the producer's budget. The actor recalled how during Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, he felt like he was a successful actor and thus, there was no need to be a producer, especially because he is satisfied with his work and his producers were happy, too. However, things changed along the way, and now, Aamir is both a producer as well as an actor.

Aamir Khan has served underperforming films over the past few years. It began with Thugs of Hindostan, and the actor was then seen in Forrest Gump remake Laal Singh Chaddha. Both the movies turned out to be Box Office disasters.
