Actor Vijay Sethupathi, who is basking in the rave reviews coming in for his latest outing Viduthalai, helmed by Vetri Maaran, has signed his next. The actor has signed his maiden web series in Tamil, which will be helmed by M Manikandan. The series will stream on Disney + Hotstar. Sharing his excitement about the same, Vijay Sethupathi dropped a picture from the puja ceremony and wrote, "Happy to start my first web series in Tamil for @disneyplusHSTam, Directed by #MManikandan with an auspicious pooja! @7CsPvtPte @Aaru_Dir @shammysaga @RajeshMRadio @epitole @jacki_art @yogeshdir @Kavitha_Stylist (sic)."

Manikandan is known for his critically acclaimed works including National Award winner Kaakka Muttai, Kadaisi Vivasayi and Aandavan Kattalai. Vijay Sethupathi had worked in both Kadaisi Vivasayi and Aandavan Kattalai, thus marking his third collaboration with the director.

The series is being bankrolled by 7C’s Entertainment Pvt Ltd, with music by Rajesh Murugesan, cinematography by Shanmugasundaram, editing by Ajith Kumar and art direction by Immanuel Jackson. While the sound design will be handled by Ajayan K Adat, Kavitha will be in charge of the costumes.

Vijay Sethupathi had tested waters in the web space with the thriller Farzi, in which he played the police officer Michael Vedanayagam. The black comedy had him starring opposite Shahid Kapoor, Kay Kay Menon, Bhuvan Arora, Amol Palekar, Raashi Khanna and Regina Cassandra. Vijay Sethupathi won a lot of praise for his performance in the series.

In the meantime, his latest outing Viduthalai, a period crime thriller helmed by Vetri Maaran, hit screens on March 31, and opened to fantastic reviews. Vijay Sethupathi plays the leader of a separatist group titled Makkal Padai, who is considered a mentor by his village and hence, nicknamed Vaathiyar. The film marks Soori's debut as a hero and his role has come under huge appreciation. The rest of the star cast includes Bhavani Sre, Gautham Menon, Rajiv Menon and Chethan.
