After humiliation, Rooqma Ray finally receives an apology from the Khanakul organisers

Actress Rooqma Ray was humiliated while she was at a cultural event in Khanakul on May 24. She was asked to leave the stage after one of the organisers, Raju Samanta, who was in an inebriated state. He claimed that Rooqma was late in arriving and had several whims. Rooqma denied that accusation. Her colleagues protested against the incident. All India Organiser and Artist Musical Forum intervened and a resolution was reached at last. The club apologised to Rooqma.

Rooqma came on Facebook live on Sunday and said that a person named Raju Samanta apologised to her. The club also sent a video seeking an apology. The person said that he did it being angry. Rooqma asked, “Can you do anything if you are angry? Can you misbehave? You can then murder also while being angry!” 

Rooqma said that she went through humiliation for the last four days. She also said that the All India Organiser and Artist Musical Forum stood beside her. Though the issue has been resolved, Rooqma said that such an unexpected incident affected her. 

Rooqma went to perform at an event to celebrate a local Kali Puja. Earlier, while talking to OTTplay, she recalled, “I reached on time and had to take a long walk to reach the venue. One person came and asked to get on his bike. My team and I declined the offer as he was an unknown person to us. I walked. After I took the stage and started the performance, the organisers greeted me with a bouquet. They took photos. Everything was going well. I continued with my performance when another group came and asked for a selfie. I obliged. It was a group selfie. Suddenly this man came and said, ‘You were paid to sing. So, sing. It’s not about your advertisement.’ I was shocked to hear his audacity. I left the stage and waited for the backstage for his apology.”

However, on that evening, the man did not apoligise. Moreover, he further misbehaved her saying that it was her fault that she did not take the bike ride with him. Rooqma left the place and took to her social media to share her ordeal.
