After Hungama 2, Priyadarshan ropes in Meezaan for a murder mystery?

Meezaan recently appeared as the lead in Priyadarshan’s Hungama 2. The highly-anticipated comedy-drama also featured Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Paresh Rawal in the leading roles. However, the film failed to spread magic like the 2003 film Hungama but Meezaan grabbed a lot of attention. The actor is reportedly reuniting with the veteran filmmaker. Unlike the first collaboration of the duo, this one is going to be a cop-thriller murder-mystery flick.

According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, a source close to the development spoke about the matter and confirmed that the upcoming film is not a comedy-drama like Hungama 2 but underlying suspense. 

“There were recent reports that he is beginning the film in August and this is the project that was being talked about. Meezaan had signed the film, while he was wrapping up Hungama 2,” the source added.

The source clarified that the upcoming murder mystery is apart from the Akshay Kumar starrer movie with Priyadarshan. Meanwhile, it also revealed to the portal that the filmmaker’s next project with Akshay will go on floors after completing Meezaan’s suspense-thriller film. The leading lady and other cast members of the untitled thriller film are yet to be decided.

Meezaan, son of Jaaved Jaaferi debuted opposite Sharmin Segal in the 2019 romantic drama film Malaal, which has been helmed by Mangesh Hadawale and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Bhushan Kumar, Mahaveer Jain and Krishan Kumar. While, Hungama 2 marks the second movie of the actor, which can be streamed on Disney+Hotstar.
