After Lal Salaam promotions, Rajinikanth resumes Vettaiyan shooting

Superstar Rajinikanth has resumed shooting for his upcoming movie Vettaiyan in Andhra Pradesh, along with Malayalam star Fahadh Faasil.

Rajinikanth had taken a break from the shooting and dedicated time to promoting his upcoming film Lal Salaam, which is due in cinemas next week. Even though he has only played an extended cameo in the movie, he threw his full weight behind the promotions, showcasing his unwavering support. Last week, he attended the audio release event and talked about the relevance of Lal Salaam amid the prevailing communal tensions across the country.

After wrapping up the promotions, Rajinikanth returned to the sets of Vettaiyan earlier this week.

Vettaiyan boasts a star-spangled supporting cast

Vettaiyan has created quite an excitement among fans, drawing comparisons to Rajinikanth's earlier blockbuster Jailer. In the movie, he plays a seasoned cop, who seemingly relies on his service revolver to deliver quick justice.

Vettaiyan also marks the onscreen reunion between Rajinikanth and Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan after a gap of more than three decades. Earlier the duo shared screen space in Geraftaar (1985) and Hum (1991).

But the star-studded affair doesn't stop there. Vettaiyan boasts an ensemble cast featuring Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Dushara Vijayan, and Ritika Singh, creating one of the grandest line-ups in Tamil cinema.

In the meantime, Rajinikanth is waiting for the release of Lal Salaam, which is set to hit the screens on February 9. Written and directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth, the movie's narrative is set against a charged communal backdrop, serving as a poignant commentary on the pitfalls of hate politics. Rajinikanth steps into the role of Moideen Bhai, a Muslim leader. The film was earlier slated for release during the Pongal festival in January. However, it was postponed to avoid clashing with Dhanush's Captain Miller and Sivakarthikeyan's Ayalaan.

Upon wrapping up Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth is set to join the sets of Thalaivar 171, a project penned and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
