In 2020, Karisma Kapoor made her acting come back with the ALTBalaji and ZEE5 series, Mentalhood. However, the Ekta Kapoor-produced show, which investigated the multitasking nature of various sorts of women and their approaches to providing the finest upbringing for their children, failed to gain momentum with viewers. Karishma has been looking for a new project that will give her visibility since then, and it appears that she has found it with the next ZEE5 series.
According to PeepingMoon, Karisma is working on another ZEE5 web series. It's an untitled drama series in which the actress will portray a strong-willed woman caught in a terrifying circumstance. Abhinay Deo, the filmmaker of Delhi Belly, is directing this female-driven story, which will begin filming next month. Aside from Karisma, Helen plays a vital role in the show. The veteran actor is making a comeback after a decade away from her last role in Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine, which also starred Karisma's sister and actor Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Abhinay Deo has been intending to venture into the OTT arena for the past few years, and with this Karisma Kapoor show, he is finally ready to do so. The director was previously working on a sequel to Aankhein with Amitabh Bachchan, Sidharth Malhotra, Akshaye Khanna, and Sunil Grover, but Bachchan dropped out and the project was shelved.
Doosra, his second film, has been in the works for a while and will be published shortly on an OTT platform. Doosra is a socio-sports play about courage and freedom of speech in the context of a single incident that gave Indians a sense of emancipation. Plabita Borthakur, who starred in Lipstick Under My Burkha, and Ankur Vikal, who starred in Slumdog Millionaire, star in this film.
Meanwhile, Karisma's last outing in a film was Dangerous Ishhq, which was released in 2012.
