After Paap, Rahul Banerjee’s Chupkatha streams on OTT

Bengali actor Rahul Banerjee, who was last seen in Hoichoi’s popular web series Paap’s last season titled Paap: Antim Pawrbo, is gearing up for another OTT release. This time the actor will be seen in the short film Chupkatha, which was released recently on Addatimes.

The short film focuses on a mute and deaf baby girl who has been separated from her parents. Based in the times of COVID-19, her parents, played by Rahul and Basabdatta Chatterjee, test positive for coronavirus. They have to be isolated and the baby girl has no way to communicate with her parents.

Basabdatta was last seen in Rawkto Rawhoshyo, which was released in 2020. Apart from that, she was seen in Michhil, Tokhon Kuasa Chilo and Sraboner Dhara. All the films released in the same year.

Rahul, on the other hand, played the lead actor in Joydeep Mukherjee’s Paap series. The show starred Puja Banerjee as the female protagonist.

The actor had tested positive for the deadly virus in real life too. He had taken some time off work to recover.

In an exclusive interview with OTTplay, Rahul had revealed that he wishes to play a gay character once in his career. When we had asked him about cross-dressing in Paap, the actor mentioned, “I have no qualms when it comes to acting. Now my only wish which is pending, is to play a closeted gay character on screen.”

The actor also revealed that he is waiting for the pandemic to end so he can start work on his debut directorial project. “I’m just waiting for the pandemic to end because my script and cast has been locked,” he had mentioned.

The actor also has Ek Je Ache Sohor, Chabiwala: The Keysmith, Punglingo Strilingo, Balighar and Birpurush in his kitty.
